The Cheshire Athletics Network organised has organised a number of events since the first in Sept 2010. Browse the newsletters for event reports.
The Cheshire Athletics Network started in summer 2010. The plan for year 2 (2011/12) has now been agreed and you can view it here.
A number of Cheshire athletic clubs have successfully established an Athletics Network in Cheshire, and have received significant funding from England Athletics and McCain Foods.
There is a Cheshire Athletics Network web page on the England Athletics web site.
This an exciting venture that will benefit the participating clubs by promoting communication and the sharing of ideas and experience through funded initiatives in specific areas. The Network will be improved by including as many Cheshire clubs as we can. At time of writing (Sep 2011), the member clubs are:
Andy Garnett is the volunteer Network Coordinator for the Cheshire Athletics Network, who also employ Vicky Huyton in a part time, paid role.
General information about Athletics Networks is available on the England Athletics web site. The web site says:
"Athletics Networks are clusters of clubs working strategically with other local key partners to develop the sport of athletics in that area. McCain Athletics Networks will be multiple clubs (often comprising of a mixture of track and field and off-track) working together in each area.
McCain Athletics Networks will seek to drive up the quality of coaching, links with community groups such as schools, competition in clubs (inter and intra club) and also seek to develop the all round quality of provision within clubs in the network."
Athletics Networks are coordinated by England Athletics and sponsored by McCain Foods.
